“Tim, you are an Ironman!”

“Tim, you are an Ironman!”

Ironman UK, Bolton — 4th August, 2013 On 10th September 2012, I paid my entry fee for Ironman UK. I’d run my first couple of marathons that year, and raced my first two triathlons. I had the bug. I was fitter than I’d been in a long time, and leaner. But for me, the mere thought of Ironman was something way beyond my capability, or my comprehension. I’d only been riding a road bike for 4 months, and I could barely...

I Can Swim!

I Can Swim!

Well … for most reading this it’s hardly even a warm-up, but this morning I managed 4 lengths front crawl without stopping, and for me that’s something of a breakthrough.  How did I do it?  I stopped kicking.  Or kicked very slowly and very softly, at least, and still found I was moving almost as quickly as I have been previously!  Much less exhausted.  My style and technique are still all over the place, and...
