Sunday looms!  And my first triathlon, the City of Bath Sprint (750m, 25k, 5k).  Can you really call 15miles on a bike a sprint?  I guess some people can.  But I did 14.5 miles yesterday averaging 17mph, so I’m pretty pleased with that (a hilly route too … as I know Bath will be).  And tomorrow my final swim, which I’ll use once again to time 30 lengths.  Running… fine. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…

Ten days til my first triathlon, and this morning I practised a timed 750m swim.  To be honest I wasn’t even sure I could do it, but alternating 50m crawl and 50m breast stroke I managed it in 25 minutes.  Now, I know to a lot of people –– and probably most triathletes –– this is probably a really slow and particularly crappy warm-up, but for me it was a triumph, and it’s made me very happy.  I’m hoping that...

Training Plans –– my first tri; my first trail marathon

Since the beginning of January I’ve been training for the marathon (my first, completed a week ago).  That gave me structured training for 4 months, consisting of 5 runs per week, cross-training on Mondays (usually a bike ride, long walk, or strength training at home), and a rest day on Fridays.  I also started swimming, sometimes on Tuesday, sometimes Friday mornings.
