It’s getting better. At the SwimFit session this week I swam maybe 40 lengths front crawl, and it’s feeling better too. My technique still isn’t great … I know what to do, but concentrating and trying to do all of it at once means I just turn into a mess. At present I enjoy swimming with a pull-buoy, and find that a lot easier and much less exhausting. Basically, until now I’ve been sprinting underwater.
Progress!
In other news I’ve started training for the Olympic distance triathlon I’m doing in September. Fitting it around family (kids off school) and work isn’t easy and has meant some early mornings this week, but I like that. Nothing quite beats running or cycling through the silent countryside as the world’s waking up.
Off the booze too. Or at least cutting down. It’s my birthday this weekend and I’m seeing loads of family, so I suspect I’ll indulge in a bit of real ale.
More training updates soon, 8 weeks til the triathlon and this evening I’m writing a training programme and sticking it to the wall. That’s inspiration. And also a visible indicator for my wife!
