I’ve just returned from a week in France with my family. I went filled with good intentions to continue training, but … it didn’t quite work out. I did have a nice 4 mile trail run along the banks of a local reservoir, and several fun bike rides with the gang. But I also developed a nasty cough, and when it’s below the neck, that means no heavy training. Instead there was wine and cheese and bread and beer and cake. And a few apples and bananas and tomatoes … honest.
Oh, I DID manage to swim in the open water for the first time. We visited a lovely lake which had a man-made beach, and I took the plunge. Didn’t go far, but it was pretty windy, so I experienced (very small) waves splashing into me for the first time. Didn’t have goggles so I swam mostly breast-stroke, but it felt good. I don’t think I’ll be too worried about jumping in in a wetsuit … something I hope to do a few times this year, at least.
Note to self: buy wetsuit.
My next tri is in 3 weeks, so once this cough is shaken I need to get back into training. Watch this space for more updates soon!
