January training 2015

January training 2015

I’m back!  Training for the Outlaw in July, I thought I’d keep track of my monthly training logs.  Maybe it’ll be interesting, maybe not.  Let me know! This month I ran 45 miles, swam 5 miles, and cycled 133 miles, as well as 4 hours’ turbo training (or as I like to call it, Beelzebub’s Bastard Bike).  A gentle month to ease into 2015.  Visited the physio about my shoulders (giving me a bit of pain), and...

Long Course Weekend 2014

Long Course Weekend 2014

Well, I did two-thirds of it, and what a blast.  The Long Course Weekend is basically an Ironman split over three days, with a 2.4 mile sea swim on Friday, 112 mile bike ride on Saturday, and a marathon on Sunday.  Because of my dodgy knee I left my running shoes at home which meant that, a) I was strangely jealous of those who got up on Sunday to run, and b) I had a few pints of ale on saturday evening.  Swings and...

Outlaw Half – Nottingham, June 1st 2014

It’s been a while since I posted anything here! I finished in 5:38, a new personal best for the distance. Here...

2014 – New Year, more fun!

2014 – New Year, more fun!

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope the training and race planning is going well.  I spent most of the Christmas break enjoying getting back into running at last (between mince pies, fine wines, and mostly crap TV).  I’m only up to 5 miles so far, but my knee is holding up well, and this week I had a great visit to the physio.  The splendid Annie flexed and prodded, bent and pushed at my legs, and her conclusion is that I have a slight...

Having Fun

Having Fun

So, I’m training again, albeit in a very relaxed manner.  Relaxed as in, I’m just having fun!  Not following a programme, although I’m still doing something 6 days in 7.  Trying to swim twice per week with NEWTs has been hard, my swim fitness has suffered and I’ve had a couple of really tough sessions.  But I’ve still not given up on a session yet, so I’m chuffed with that. And it’s slowly...
